For Alternative Provision Providers
You know what you can offer. You know the difference your provision makes. Getting local authorities to see that, at the right moment, for the right learner, is harder than it should be.
Waypaths gives commissioners a structured view of the individual services you offer, alongside the needs and requirements they are trying to meet. Your service information can be considered on the same basis as internal and other external options, without paid ranking.

What Waypaths is designed to improve
These are some of the problems Waypaths is being designed to address.

Getting found by the right commissioners
Describe individual services in a consistent structure so commissioners can understand what you deliver, who each service is designed for, essential requirements and practical constraints. Current capacity or access can be recorded where known, while anything unconfirmed remains visible for checking.

Keep service evidence connected to the service
Keep relevant service evidence alongside your service information. Authorised organisations can review the evidence they need, while responsibility for approval and compliance decisions remains with them.

Better referral information before a placement starts
Where the commissioner has supplied and confirmed the relevant information, referrals can arrive with a clearer structured picture of the young person, their needs, requirements and support already tried. Gaps and unknowns remain visible so you can decide what still needs checking before agreeing fit.
What else becomes easier to coordinate
Package coordination in one place
Keep agreed services, responsibilities and relevant commissioning information connected to the learner’s support package, with access controlled by role and permission.
Keep service information current
Keep service information and review activity connected so changes to an offering, practical constraints or evidence can be reflected in the information commissioners use when considering the service.
Reduce repeated administration
A shared structure can reduce repeated requests for the same service information and make conversations with commissioners clearer, while helping them understand where each individual service may fit.
Be part of building it
We’re preparing a pilot with participating organisations. Participating organisations will help test the workflows, information and safeguards needed in practice, with feedback informing further development. We’ve worked inside this sector and know where the current process creates problems. We want to build something better with the people who deal with those problems every day.
Pilot participation details and wider rollout arrangements will be confirmed separately with interested organisations.
Pilot timing will be agreed with participating organisations.
